Giving to St James

Thank you for giving to the ministries of St. James United Methodist Church. Your donations help us to fulfill our mission, “Building Christian Community Within and Beyond the Church.” St. James has been a part of the greater Merrimack community for more than 50 years.  With your donations, we have been able to help local agencies and support groups. We are a member of the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church. As such, our donations also support their efforts around the world including disaster relief kits, funding for Health Clinics, support for more than 1800 missionaries, support for urban and rural ministries, and funding for scholarships to name a few.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pledging and Giving

Why is it important to pledge?

    • Pledging allows you to be more purposeful in your giving to support God’s work through St. James.
    • Pledging also allows the church leadership to plan the church budget more accurately.

How do I pledge?

    • In the fall, pledge cards are distributed, completed and given to the church financial secretary.  All pledge information is confidential.
    • Although the annual pledge drive is in the fall, you may pledge at any time during the year by contacting our financial secretary.
    • Statements of giving are given out several times a year. The final statement of giving is mailed to you after the end of the year. Most contributions are tax deductible.

What should I do if my circumstances change and I cannot fulfill my pledge?

    • You may adjust your pledge amount by speaking to the financial secretary.

Can I Give to the church without pledging?

    • Absolutely! All giving is welcome and done confidentially through the financial secretary.

What is my money used for?

    • Donations fund the annual budget which includes funding for all of the ministries and programs of our church, and for the operation and upkeep of our buildings and property. A part of our budget is sent to the New England Conference to fund denominational efforts and the worldwide mission of The United Methodist Church.
